Training Calendar

Our Leader Training Calendar is being developed for 2010!

If you are interested in training and are not already on our mailing list, please contact our staff so that we can keep you updated as training dates are added.

Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program

2010 dates will be announced soon.

Please note that beginning July 1, 2009, leaders must present current CPR, either lifeguard or water safety certification and pass a basic swim skills test for the Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program. (If you do not have water safety or lifeguard certification, please contact our office for more information on facility accomodations that may allow you to teach.) A pre-training module must be completed prior to training either online or in a packet emailed to participants. Additionally, participants must successfully demonstrate ability to swim and to perform basic rescue techniques during the training.

Training for Alaskan leaders and sites:

In order to make leader training available to interested sites in more parts of Alaska, in 2010 we will be changing our training format to provide leaders with funding to travel to Washington or Oregon to attend leader trainings. A limited number of full and partial travel and registration scholarships will be available to leaders whose sites sign a letter of intent to offer the program and complete a nomination form for leaders. Scholarship opportunities will be announced in early 2010. For scholarship information, please contact Laura Goss, lgoss@arthritis.org. If you are interested in becoming a leader or site in Alaska, please contact our chapter office at 1-800-746-1821 or email Annie at arehn@arthritis.org.
