Professional Education Programs

The Pacific Northwest Chapter provides educational programming to the rheumatology community as well as general practitioners. We also have special outreach programs specific to Alaska and underserved parts of the chapter territory. Contact Johanna Lindsay for information on physician and provider education.

An additional resource for provider education is now available to allied health professionals in rheumatology practices. Visit the American College of Rheumatology to learn more about their NP and PA Postgraduate Rheumatology Training Program.

Researchers

The  Pacific Northwest Chapter does not offer any direct grant funding for research; all funding is through the Arthritis Foundation National Office. Visit the Research page for more information about our national research program, available grants and the application process. (Please note, research funding for 2009 will be limited.)

Clinical Trials

The decision to participate in clinical trials should be made in careful consultation between the patient and healthcare provider. The Arthritis Foundation does not specifically promote any clinical trials or studies, and urges patients to talk with their doctor about the option to participate in research. Listings of current, federally approved clinical trials are posted on www.clinicaltrials.gov.

Find a Rheumatologist

The Arthritis Foundation, Pacific Northwest Chapter is pleased to make this rheumatologist list (physicians specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of arthritis) available as a public service.

Look up a rheumatologist on the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) website www.rheumatology.org. The ACR is the largest professional organization of physicians, scientists, and health professionals devoted to the study and treatment of the rheumatic diseases.

The Arthrits Foundation makes no representations, implied or otherwise, about the competence or qualifications of any physicians listed here. The Foundation strongly recommends that you consult your primary care physician before relying on this list.

Resources for Affording the Costs of Health Care

Partnership for Prescription Assistance

The Partnership for Prescription Assistance brings together America's pharmaceutical companies, doctors, other health care providers, patient advocacy organizations and community groups to help qualifying patients who lack prescription coverage get the medicines they need through the public or private program that's right for them.

Oregon Health Insurance for Seniors

Oregon Medical Insurance Pool (OMIP)

The Oregon Medical Insurance Pool (OMIP) is the high-risk health insurance pool for the state. OMIP was established by the Oregon Legislature to cover adults and children who are unable to obtain medical insurance because of health conditions. OMIP also provides a way to continue insurance coverage for those who exhaust COBRA benefits and have no other options.
