What is a participant?

A participant is a person who registers to be a Joints in Motion team member. Each participant receives: a world-class training program and coaching staff to prepare you to run/walk a marathon; weekly group runs/walks; educational training clinics on nutrition, clothing, etc.; paid entry into the marathon/hike; JIM team gear; parties with the local team; fundraising tools, information and resources; free roundtrip airfare and hotel accommodations to the destination of your marathon/hike (except for the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon)

What is a coach?

A coach is an experienced leader in either hiking or marathon running or walking. The Ohio River Valley Chapter is proud of its coaching staff. All of our coaches have vast experience in their field and are anxious to share this knowledge and their enthusiasm for the sport with the team. Our coaches are available to answer your training questions on an individual basis and will do their best to make sure that this is an experience that you will never forget!

What is an honoree?

Each participant has the opportunity to run or walk in honor of someone who faces the daily challenges of arthritis -- an honoree. This person can be someone you know, or we can match you with a volunteer. Honorees help motivate athletes to finish the marathon and their fundraising goal; athletes with honorees not only have a personal goal, but they have a more significant, tangible reason to complete the program.
