Volunteer to Work with Kids Affected by Juvenile Arthritis!
300,000 children in America have juvenile arthritis (JA)—a disease that can affect their schooling, their social interaction, and their family life. The Arthritis Foundation, Northern California Chapter sponsors several programs every year for children with JA and their families, friends, and caregivers who live in the 16 counties we serve. These programs include JA Family Education Day in April, JA Camp in August, and JA Family Fun Day and our JA Teen Retreat—both held in October. All of these require lots of volunteer help. If you would like more information about our JA volunteer opportunities, please contact Emma Dayrell-Stulen by e-mail or at 800-464-6240.
Volunteers Needed to Speak about Arthritis
Want to make a difference in the lives of others with arthritis? The Chapter invites you to consider joining its newly formed Speakers Bureau. Volunteers will receive training so that they are comfortable delivering presentations about arthritis and the benefits of physical activity to community groups. Most likely, volunteers will be asked to speak twice a year at locations convenient to their home or office. All volunteers are asked to attend a Speakers Bureau Orientation that will be held in the beginning of 2008. Please contact Community Programs Manager, Victoria Bruno, to be added to the Orientation invitation list or call 415-356-1243.
