Northern California Chapter Juvenile Arthritis (JA) Programs

 

JA Young Adult Education Day

A new event for 2009 designed specifically for young adults with juvenile arthritis or related rheumatic disease.  JA Young Adult Education Day, held on November 14 at Washington Hospital in Fremont, will be a day for both young adults diagnosed as children and for young adults diagnosed after the age of 18.  There will be interactive discussions and workshops led by medical/health professionals from Northern California.

The Advocacy & Kids' Summit is YOUR chance to tell Congress about the needs of 46 million adults and 300,000 kids with arthritis. Join fellow advocates in Washington, D.C., and learn how to advocate on Capitol Hill. Meet with your Members of Congress or their staff to educate them about the impact of arthritis. Everyone is invited to participate!   The Summit will be held March 3-10, 2010.  Register for the Summit.
 

Kids Get Arthritis Too

Attend Juvenile Arthritis Family Education Day in April

The Arthritis Foundation, Northern California Chapter sponsors Juvenile Arthritis Family Education Day every year in the Spring.  In 2009 the event will be held on Saturday, April 18, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center, located at 17000 Monterey Road, Morgan Hill, CA 95037.

 

JA Family Fun Day

The Arthritis Foundation's JA Family Fun day with the Oakland A's at McAfee Coliseum in Oakland, CA.  The date is Sunday, June 28, 2009 and begins with lunch between 11:05 am and 1 pm, the first pitch is at 1:05 pm.  The fee is $25 for adults and $15 for children 18 years and younger (includes lunch and ticket to game).

Please note:  This event replaces the JA Family Picnic at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.

 

 

Participate in JA's National Conference in July

The 2009 Juvenile Arthritis National Conference will be held in Houston, Texas this summer, July 9-12, at the Hilton Americas Houston!  Don't miss the opportunity to meet and network with other families affected by JA and to hear the latest information about care, treatment, educational rights, and more.  Families of children affected by JA as well as friends and caregivers are invited to this annual gathering. Camp Milagros is a Summer Camp for Kids with JA

Every summer, the Northern California Chapter sponsors Camp Milagros, a five day/four night (newly extended) summer camp for children, ages 8-13, affected by juvenile arthritis and related rheumatic diseases. This year's camp will be held at Valley of the Moon Camp in Glen Ellen from Wednesday, August 5 at Noon to Sunday, August 9 at Noon.

Northern CA's third JA Teen Retreat will be held in SF

The Northern California Chapter's JA Teen Retreat will be held from October 23 at 5:00 pm thru October 25 at 4:00 pm in San Francisco at the Cathedral Hill Hotel. If you are a teen with JA, don't miss this!

Pen Pal Program

The Arthritis Foundation Pen Pal Program provides the opportunity for children with juvenile arthritis or a related condition to make a new friend and share feelings and experiences.  Children sign up by filling out a questionaire and are assigned a pen pal with similar interests.  They might even get to write to a pen pal out of state!
