2nd Annual Women of Distinction Luncheon
Friday, March 12, 2010
The University Club New York

Although arthritis can affect anyone, regardless of race, gender or age, the statistics are clear – more women are diagnosed with arthritis than men. Sixty percent of all people who have arthritis are female and many of the common forms of arthritis are more prevalent in women. Among those are rheumatoid arthritis (RA), lupus (SLE), osteoporosis, fibromyalgia and some types of osteoarthritis (OA). Finding ways of coping with arthritis is particularly important for women, who are often juggling work, family, and a variety of social responsibilities.

At the 2010 Women of Distinction Luncheon, chaired by renowned pianist Navah Perlman, women who have set themselves apart through civic, cultural, philanthropic, human service, or professional commitments will be honored. The Luncheon will be attended by business women who are leaders in their fields and who are a vital part of our city. The Luncheon’s goals are to raise awareness about women and arthritis, and to raise funds to support the Foundation’s mission.
