Form a Team

What is a Team?

A team is a group of five or more walkers joining together to raise money to fight arthritis. Team members can include co-workers, friends, family members, clients, vendors-anyone! Team participation is FUN and EASY!

How is a Team Formed?

Establish a team captain who will recruit and lead the team. Leading a team is easy, and involves setting fundraising goals, supplying registration and donation forms and motivating and inspiring team members. The Arthritis Foundation will provide you with a complete "Team Captain Kit" with everything you need to get started.

10 Steps to Building a Winning Team?

  1. Set a goal for your team! Raise at least $100 each and try to recruit at least 10 team members.
  2. Hang posters and sign-up sheets in central locations around your office or school. Be sure to list your team captain as the primary contact and include your telephone number and e-mail address.
  3. Spread the word! Send out e-mails, memos, and voicemails requesting particpationg. Put an article in your company or community newsletter.
  4. Host an informational meeting. Educate people about the Arthritis Walk and how they can make a difference.
  5. Build team spirit! Encourage some friendly competition among employees/departments by issuring an Arthritis Walk challenge.
