ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS AND
(CI) RULES FOR PLAY
Each year thousands of golfers from across the country participate — for the exciting competition, valuable gifts, and the chance to win great prizes — all to benefit a worthy cause. We are thrilled with the development of this partnership and the opportunity to bring you the 2009 Cadillac Invitational Benefiting the Arthritis Foundation.

TEAM SCRAMBLE
The tournament is a four-person, team-scramble format, following USGA Handicap Index requirements. Each team member tees off and the best drive is selected. All four players then golf from that spot. This process continues until the hole is completed. Each team must use at least three drives from each player during the course of the round. The team with the lowest gross score wins.
The team-scramble format provides everyone (men and women, scratch golfers, and high handicappers) an opportunity to win valuable prizes and possibly an invitation to TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Golfers of all skill levels are encouraged to compete, enjoy a great day of golf and support the Arthritis Foundation, Michigan Chapter.
The tournament begins at 12:30 p.m. If you are unable to play at that time, we would be happy to arrange for an earlier tee-off time. However, all competition and contest prizes will be given at the Awards Ceremony that evening.
HOW TO FORM A TEAM AND ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Any amateur golfer, male or female, is eligible to compete in the Cadillac Invitational.
  • Every team competing in the tournament must consist of four amateur golfers whose total USGA Handicap Index is 43.0 or more.
  • Only one golfer on each team may have a USGA Handicap Index of 8.0 or less.
  • Golfer’s handicaps are as of the latter of:
(i) the day of registration for the tournament, or
(ii) the date 60 days prior to the event.
  • Each golfer who has a USGA Handicap Index will be required to present a current copy of his or her handicap card to the tournament committee at the time of registration.
  • A player who does not have a USGA Handicap index can obtain a Cadillac Invitational Handicap Index by playing three times within 12 months of September 10, 2009. Your score card must have been verified by the Club Golf Pro. Send the three verified score cards to the Arthritis Foundation, Michigan Chapter by September 1 and our tournament golf pro will calculate your handicap for you.

HOW TO FORM A TEAM AND ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS (CONTINUED)

  • All golfers will be required to present a photo ID on the day of the event.
  • No substitutions will be allowed on the day of the event.
  • Any team that contains a member who does not comply with each of these requirements will not be eligible to win prizes or qualify to be invited to the National Championship.

RULES FOR PLAY

  1. EACH player's tee shot must be used at least three (3) times.
  2. PLAY ALL BALLS UP! Lies may be improved anywhere on the course by placing the ball or using the club head.
  3. Each team member may hit his/her shot from within one club length (except while putting) of the shot selected by the team. However, the ball may not be placed closer to the hole. If the team plays the selected shot from the fairway, rough, bunker, hazard, or green fringe, the ball must be played from within one club length of the shot selected — no nearer the hole — and must remain within the same boundaries as the selected ball originally was found.
  4. The same rules hold true for putting. However, once a ball has been holed out, play is complete for that hole. Therefore, it is recommended that players not putt out until all players have attempted the putt from the selected position. The team is required to mark the selected shot and then re mark the ball approximately six (6) inches away. This allows the team to mark the ball so that all players can putt from the same spot without being disturbed by the ball marker.
  5. On the green, players may stand behind a teammate to help determine the line.
  6. The method of breaking ties will be matching cards. THERE ARE NO PLAYOFFS IN THE CADILLAC INVITATIONAL EVENTS. Matching cards are a form of breaking ties where the golf pro determines the winning team by comparing the scorecards of the tied teams hole by hole. More specifically, the pro begins matching cards by comparing the scores of each team on the Men’s number one (#1) handicap hole.
  7. If one team has a better score on the #1 handicap hole, that team wins. If the #1 handicap hole is tied, the #2 handicap hole is compared by the pro. This process continues until a winning team is determined.

Note: Players and teams can be denied the opportunity to play
competitively if requirements are not met.
