Local Advocacy

Welcome!

The Arthritis Foundation celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2008!. The first local chapter of the Arthritis Foundation was formed at the University of Michigan in 1948. Today, our mission is as important as ever as we continue to combat the nation's most debilitating disease throughout the State of Michigan.

If you are a Michigan resident, we encourage you to bookmark this page or add it to your favorites list so that you can return often to check out what is new with the Michigan Chapter. You can return to the National Arthritis Foundation web page at any time by clicking on the Arthritis Foundation logo at the upper left. To talk with someone at the Michigan Chapter about arthritis, call Arthritis Answers™ toll free at (800) 968-3030.

The Arthritis Foundation is the only voluntary health agency in Michigan providing for education, research, and improved treatment for all of the more than 100 forms of arthritis. Through arthritis awareness programs, scientific research, public and professional education, and various other community services, the Arthritis Foundation is the place for Michigan residents to turn for help with arthritis.

Kids Get Arthritis Too

In Michigan there are at least 10,300 children age 16 and under who have some form of arthritis. We hear you! The Arthritis Foundation Michigan Chapter thinks it is very important for parents, children, teens, and young adults to know that we have programs and services that provide information and referral, support and education, school info and fun activities (like Camp Dakota) to help you manage juvenile arthritis and connect to other families.

Michigan Chapter Juvenile Arthritis Programs

JUST 10 is the arthritis advocacy awareness campaign here in Michigan that was created to show people how little time it takes to make a difference. People often don’t know what’s expected of them, how much time it takes to be an advocate, or what advocacy is, so this is a way to show them.

Delivering on the Promise: Research
