Help Us Ring in the Holiday Season with the Jingle Bell Run!

November 1, 2008
The Arthritis Foundation is calling for Kansans to kick-off the holiday season by taking action against arthritis and participating in the 21st annual Wichita Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis.
Participants are encouraged to come decked out in festive costumes and tie jingle bells to their shoe laces for the Jingle Bell Run/Walk on Saturday, December 6. This year the event will be held at the WaterWalk Building in downtown Wichita. Whether it’s for competition or just for fun, participants may choose from a one-mile or four-mile course.
To get involved or to form a team, visit www.jbrwichita.kintera.org or call 316.263.0116.
Arthritis or chronic joint symptoms are more widespread than imagined, affecting 46 million Americans. Here in Kansas 575,000 people are afflicted with arthritis, including 3,000 children.
“The prevalence of arthritis in our nation is surging, and we cannot ignore it. Events like the Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis help bring the community together to raise awareness and funds that are critical to the advancement of research, health education and government advocacy,” said John H. Klippel, M.D., president and CEO of the Arthritis Foundation.
The Jingle Bell Run/Walk is the nation’s largest holiday run/walk event.   In 2007 alone, the event raised nearly $3.4 million nationwide.
The Arthritis Foundation is the only nationwide, not-for-profit health organization helping people take greater control of arthritis by leading efforts to prevent, control and cure arthritis and related diseases -- the nation's most common cause of disability.
