Arthritis Foundation's 2008 Board of Directors

The Kansas Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation elected new members to its 2008 board of directors at its recent annual meeting.
The new board members include Dana Hertneky, KSN-TV; Kristin Piper (Lawrence); Shelley Koltnow, Via Christi; and Fran Rose, Capitol Federal. Koltnow and Piper were elected to serve three-year terms and Hertneky and Rose were elected to serve two-year terms.
Elected as 2008 Chapter officers for the Chapter were Michelle Chipeaux-Kammerer, chair; Sherriene Jones-Sontag, vice-chair; Randy Peterson, treasurer; and Janet Hamous, secretary.
Aaron Breitenbach, Kansas Chapter representative to the Heartland Regional Board of the Arthritis Foundation, was named the 2008 recipient of the Chris Blackwell Award for Volunteer Excellence. The Blackwell Award is the highest honor given by the Chapter. Breitenbach also served as board chair in 2005 and 2006.
Those in attendance at the meeting had the chance to listen to a presentation by Michael Detamore, Ph.D., an associate professor and researcher at the University of Kansas. The Arthritis Foundation is funding Dr. Detamore’s research of cartilage regeneration.
