Team Captains

WHAT IS A TEAM?

A team is any group of people joining together to walk to cure arthritis. You may sign up as many people as possible! Team members may include co-workers, friends, family, neighbors, clients – anyone you can think of who wants to participate! We encourage teams of 10 people with a fundraising goal of $1,000 per team.

• Promotes healthy satisfaction by reaching team and company goals
• Increases morale when employees feel like they are supporting their community
• Raises awareness of the Arthritis Foundation’s mission, programs, services and more money for the treatment and cure of arthritis while celebrating those that are living with arthritis

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TEAM CAPTAINS

 

1. Read the fact sheet about the Arthritis Foundation Iowa Chapter and how it gives help and hope to over 611,000 people in Iowa with arthritis.

2. Register online at http://www.arthritis.org/chapters/iowa/arthritis-walk.php or by calling the office at 866-378-0636. Registration forms can also be mailed in or faxed to 515-278-2603.

3. Attend Team Captain Kick-off to learn more about how to recruit team members, coordinate team fundraisers and learn about walk day logistics.

4. Recruit as many team members as possible (ten or more make a team). Encourage everyone on your team to pre-register as it will make the day-of check-in go much more smooth.  Remember the team that brings the most number of team members and the team that raises the most donations, win awards!

5. As each of your team members registers they will be sent a participant fundraising packet by the Arthritis Foundation Iowa Chapter (names will be pulled every Friday).

6. Rally your team to encourage members to bring their families for a fun filled morning on the day of the walk.

7. Encourage your team members to raise donations to help support the research and community service programs of the Arthritis Foundation Iowa Chapter. You can have company events to encourage employee participation as well. Participants who raise at least $100 earn an event t-shirt and additional pledges may be used to earn incentive prizes (see enclosed for details on prizes). Awards are also given to the Team who Raises the Most Money & the Team with the Most Members.

8. Direct your team members to meet between 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. on the day of the walk at a designated location.

9. All donations your team members turn in should be counted and in a WALKER ENVELOPE (see packet – small envelope). Donations should be turned-in that day. Any donations received at the Arthritis Foundation office before that date in the name of the team will be credited to the team (either via mail or online). All money must be counted and the total team amount recorded on the TEAM ENVELOPE (picked up at check-in. Further instructions will be sent via e-mail closer to the event.).

10. Have fun and thank you in advance for helping to raise awareness for those with arthritis!
