2009 Phoenix Arthritis Walk

On May 2, 2009 over 3,000 participants walked the one mile path around the zoo in support of the Arthritis Foundation’s mission to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control, and cure of arthritis and related diseases.  It was a beautiful sunny day, and the animals were out taking their morning walks just as the participants strolled by.  Congressman Harry Mitchell joined Co-Chair Jacob Brown and honorary Co-Chair Andrea Decker in welcoming all the participants, volunteers, and sponsors. And, the ASU Dance Team cheered on the walkers as we kicked off National Arthritis Month in the Valley of the Sun.

Andrea Decker, our Top Individual Fundraiser…for the third year in a row!

Dr. Warren C. Rizzo and his energetic Team Rizzo, for their achievement as the Top Fundraising Team for 2009.  The trophy (and bragging rights) will now reside in Dr. Rizzo’s office until next year!

Special recognition to Team UPS/Walking Angels, for assembling our largest team, with over 375 participants!
