One example is Cabin Fever, a weekend getaway sponsored by the Eastern Missouri Chapter to allow kids with arthritis the chance to be with their peers and parents the chance to attend speakers and discussion groups with other parents.


Cabin Fever Weekend is held annually and relies heavily on dedicated volunteers to help with the children's various activities. Contact Kim Rosenthal for information on volunteer and/or sponsorship information.
Become an aquatics instructor The Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program was created for people with arthritis to keep joints flexible, muscles strong and to help reduce the pain associated with arthritis. WIth less pain, people with arthritis may be able to reduce their reliance on pain medication.

Become an exercise instructor The Arthritis Foundation exercise program was developed by physical therapists specifically for people with arthritis or related conditions. This low-impact class can be taken either sitting or standing, whichever is most comfortable.

The Eastern Missouri Chapter offers internship opportunities to both undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of:
Candidates should have three or more years of undergraduate experience in business administration, marketing, health promotions, journalism, mass communications/public relations and/or social work. Interns must have knowledge of MS Office computer applications, the ability to communicate effectively, and excellent organizational and problem solving skills. They must also be pro-active, creative and work well independently as well as with other staff and volunteers.
