Welcome to the Alabama Chapter
Fibromyalgia Proclamation Signing
On April 17th, Governor Bob Riley signed a proclamation declaring May 12 Alabama Fibromyalgia Awareness Day. Fibromyalgia is a form of arthritis characterized by long-lasting, widespread pain and tenderness at specific points on the body.
Governor Riley is joined by, left to right, Rep. Allen Treadaway (R-northern Jefferson County); David Neal, Arthritis Foundation, Alabama Chapter board member; Sandi Falkenhagen, Chapter president; Rep. Pat Moore (R-Jefferson County); Diane Ezelle, who heads up two fibromyalgia support groups in the Birmingham area; and Rep. Owen Drake (R-St. Clair & Jefferson Counties).
Representative Moore, who has fibromyalgia, introduced the resolution calling for the proclamation, which was co-sponsored by Representatives Threadaway and Drake. David Neal has been a statewide spokesperson for fibromyalgia awareness for many years.
