Support groups connect you with other caregivers who face similar situations. Besides providing social and emotional support, fellow members share ideas, practical advice, local resources, and new caregiving strategies. And perhaps most importantly, support groups provide a safe, confidential place for caregivers to vent frustrations.
One way to meet others with similar experiences is to attend workshops and meetings sponsored by the Arthritis Foundation. Visit your local AF chapter’s website regularly for an updated calendar of events in your area.
The National Family Caregivers Association has a website for locating support groups.
You can also visit Family Care Navigator or call Family Caregiver Alliance (FCA) at (800) 445-8106 to learn about local services.
For those of you who are too housebound to attend meetings, FCA offers four different online support groups with nationwide connections.
