ATLANTA, May 12, 2010 – The Arthritis Foundation and Women In Government (WIG) have partnered to offer new educational resources on exercise and pain management for people living with rheumatoid arthritis. As part of the partnership, local state legislators and the Arthritis Foundation will collaborate to offer new interactive forums that will help to educate and provide resources to communities that demonstrate the benefits of exercise for people with rheumatoid arthritis.

“We are delighted to announce this partnership with Women In Government,” said Dr. Patience White, vice president of public health for the Arthritis Foundation. “This collaboration is a great opportunity to provide resources for the 1.3 million people with RA in the United States.”

“Women In Government is uniquely equipped to positively impact and empower all women state legislators to effect sound policy surrounding rheumatoid arthritis,” said Mary Brooks Beatty, president of Women In Government. “Complementing the Arthritis Foundation’s commitment to health education, WIG in turn strives towards the same goals by connecting state legislators with the necessary tools and partnerships to effectively host town hall meetings aimed at heightening awareness about rheumatoid arthritis.”
