What Your Members of Congress Can Do to Act on this Issue
To fully support research, like the examples highlighted on the following page, which will lead to improved treatments, outcomes, and a cure for arthritis, the Arthritis Foundation requests Congress to:
- Increase the NIH Budget to no less than $32B for FY2016, the minimum needed to sustain the current level of research and account for inflation. This represents an increase for NIH.
- Increase the NIAMS budget proportionally to $545 M for FY2016.
Public investment in biomedical research holds the real promise of improving the lives of millions of Americans with arthritis. An investment in research is an investment in our nation’s future.
