Development Director - Ohio River Valley/Cincinnati

The Development Director is accountable for the successful planning, implementation and evaluation of the Arthritis Foundation’s fundraising strategies for corporate, special event and foundation revenue.

  • Works with the Divison Vice President to maintain relationships with business and community leaders, media representatives, etc. to promote fundraising activities;
  • Manage a portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects, developing fundraising strategies and taking primary responsibility for fulfillment and stewardship;
  • Regularly communicate with staff and volunteers to share progress and key information related to community partnerships;
  • Proactively pursue annual budget goals related to corporate, special event and foundation revenue;
  • Regularly monitor and prepare monthly reports relevant to financial progress, impact and stewardship;
  • Works with the Divison Vice President to achieve goals related to volunteer development and donor stewardship;
  • Fundraising leadership for the local market;
  • Experience in the generation of diverse revenue streams such as annual and major giving, foundations, corporate sponsorships, and special events;
  • Promotes the Foundation to organizations, businesses and other community groups;
  • Participate in educational opportunities to continue to develop skills and knowledge on current fundraising techniques;
  • Serve as the staff liaison for the volunteer Corporate and Foundation Team.  Responsible for working alongside and managing team volunteers to cultivate, solicit and steward prospects.
  • Staffs Board standing committees such as Financial Development and Annual Campaign;
  • Responsible for supervision of local staff as assigned.   
  • All other duties as assigned.

 
Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, health/social services or related fields;
  • Minimum of three to five years related non-profit experience including fundraising, community development and staff management.
  • Experience with pledge events (walks/runs) or advanced degree a plus;
  • Solid planning, organization, communication, and computerized donor management skills a must;
  • Strong presentation skills, including demonstrated verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds and possess valid driver’s license;
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed and to travel throughout the five-state region.
