National VP, Special Events Strategy

POSITION SUMMARY  

The National VP, Special Events Strategy is responsible for developing strategies and overseeing the management and implementation of the Foundation’s fundraising events to grow revenue from $25M to $50M from the Foundation’s customer database.  Responsible for developing and overseeing the management and implementation of activities to market the Foundation's mission through its special events to its various publics nationwide and expand the Foundation’s base of customers. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES  

1.     Sets overall direction and oversees special fundraising event strategies for and the management and implementation of fundraising event initiatives conducted as part of the Special Events unit to generate income from the Foundation’s contributor base in a cost-effective manner.  Oversight includes all aspects of these programs, including yearly planning, innovative strategies, evnet production and program analysis in an effort to maximize the long-term value of constituent relationships while increasing the net revenue for the Foundation and ensuring spending within expense budget.  Evaluates initiatives and develops strategies for improved performance based on historical data.

2.     Responsible for managing and being the primary point-of-contact for special events for budgetary issues and strategic decisions.

3.    Provides consultation and support to the Marketing and Cause Development departments in an effort to increase awareness and generate leads for various signature and core fundraising special events.

4.     Oversees all budgets for all special event initiatives and programs to ensure all income objectives are met or exceeded in cost effective manner and within budget parameters.

5.     Develops innovative initiatives to generate new sources of income and leverage existing sources of income based on market and customer data.  Oversees the management and implementation of approved initiatives.

6.     Oversees the integration of event data and customer information and other market research information within all marketing initiatives and programs to improve or enhance the performance of Foundation-wide initiatives, including fund raising, awareness and education programs.

7.     Develops and oversees relationship building programs, marketing strategies and collaborative/third-party relationships involved in running fundraising events.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

1.     Bachelor's degree in directing fundraising events or related field plus ten years’ experience in event planning, preferable in the nonprofit arena or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

2.    Proven resource management and team-building skills; success in developing creative, market-driven strategies to acquire, renew, recapture and upgrade customers based on historical data;

3.     Proven ability to direct and manage a regionally implemented fundraising events program

4.     Thorough knowledge of fundraising discipline, methods processes and systems;

5.     Experience in analyzing customer data to identify market trends and patterns and manage donors through moves management process and integrate with other areas of the organization.
