The Email Marketing Manager is responsible for the strategy and day-to-day, hands-on execution of email marketing programs in support of Arthritis Foundation communication to constituents and donors. This includes ownership of the setup, maintenance, and quarterly review of reoccurring and triggered email communications. Additionally, this individual maintains a current understanding of email marketing best practices and applies them to the execution of Arthritis Foundation email campaigns. The Email Marketing Manager determines target audiences, devises and launches email campaigns to create general awareness or pursue specific call to action. This individual must be familiar with email marketing automation and will implement strategies and best practices to nurture leads through timely and well thought out email content.



1.      Create email marketing campaigns to promote Arthritis Foundation programs, products and services.

2.      Ensure marketing messages are conveyed clearly and delivered properly to prospects. Ensure messages are sent in proper form and template. Proofread emails for clarity, grammar, and spelling.

3.      Develop a personalization strategy. Include specific graphics, incentives, and detailed descriptions.

4.      Review messages for brevity. Send messages to those who have opted in for messages.

5.      Ensure messages are mobile-friendly.

6.      Create database of emails for lead generation. Follow up on interested respondents.

7.      Purge non-deliverable email addresses and opt-outs.

8.      Include persuasive 'call-to-actions' in advertisements and promotions.

9.      Track and analyze the effectiveness of email campaigns.

10.  Use statistical analysis and reports to create campaigns. Work closely with the Search Engine Marketing and Analytics managers to develop meaningful content that reflects user needs.

11.  Coordinate and monitor the maintenance, integrity, and security of several databases.

12.  Develop and code the list segmentation for all direct and interactive marketing campaigns and communicate requirements to the primary database vendor.

13.  Use Pardot and Engagement Studio to create and execute drip email marketing campaigns.

14.  Create and maintain a list of automation rules to support the e-marketing efforts of the Foundation.

15.  Works closely with the Marketing Services Manager and the Development team to ensure fundraising/partner/sponsorship targets are met.



1.      BS/BA degree in Marketing or related field.

2.      Prior experience as an email marketing manager or digital marketing specialist

3.      Hands on experience with HTML and content management systems

4.      Proficiency in marketing automation technology

5.      Knowledge of SEO/SEM and Google Analytics

6.      Familiarity with Pardot and the Salesforce suite, a plus.

7.      Familiarity with analytical and database tools

8.      Excellent written communication, editing, and copywriting skills

9.      Strong project management skills

10.  An ability to work under tight deadlines.


Create, maintain, and optimize all e-communications for the organization.


Enhance and grow the Foundation’s lead-nurturing, drip marketing strategies.


Report on health & status of the Foundation’s ongoing email efforts & specific campaign targets.


Create and maintain emails lists, segmentation, automation rules, etc in Pardot.
